Protecting intellectual property in the automotive industry
JAF brings together rightsholders, distributors, professional organisations and public authorities to combat counterfeit products, illegal software and other intellectual property infringements in the automotive sector.
The aims of the Association
The Association promotes the protection of intellectual property and industrial property rights relating to products and services used or distributed in automotive commerce, repair and maintenance.
Our work covers professional literature, software, databases, automotive parts, diagnostic equipment, instruments and other technical products. We seek to reduce infringements through prevention, alternative enforcement and cooperation with the competent authorities.
To protect rightsholders, legitimate businesses and consumers, while contributing to safer vehicle repair and safer road transport.

Promoting the lawful use and distribution of protected works, software, databases, automotive parts, diagnostic equipment and technical publications.

We initiate takedowns, mediation or authority action, depending on the nature and seriousness of the infringement.
Resolution
Our aim is to stop the infringement, protect the rightsholder and, where appropriate, achieve a lawful out-of-court settlement.
